[edit] Info

An HTML screenlet, first of its series by Whise. Draws a Google Map right on your desktop!

[edit] Installation

Simply use the 'Install' feature of the Screenlets Manager to install the screenlet, or you can extract the contents of the screenlet's archive to the directory "$HOME/.screenlets".

UBUNTU users: There's a bug with the gtkmozembed in Ubuntu so you have two choices to start the screenlet.

  1. Start the screenlet like this (assuming you are in installation directory) :
    $ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/firefox python -u GooglemapsScreenlet.py
    This way you wont be able to start the screenlet with the screenlets-manager.
  2. Add this line:
     /usr/lib/firefox
    to the file /etc/ld.so.conf and then run
    $ /sbin/ldconfig
    This way you will be able to launch the screenlet normally (i.e. with the screenlets-manager).

[edit] Revision History

0.3: everything works, except the scaling. Drag and Drop support added.

[edit] Requirements

Requires the 'python gnome extras' package.

[edit] Usage

Left-click and drag the mouse to move the map about, -/+ zooms out/in, and you can change the display modes by selecting one of the options top-left.
