Screenlets 0.1.4 coming any time soon...
Screenlets 0.1.3 has been humbly released about a month ago in March 11 2011. It was a new version of Screenlets after two years pause. Screenlets urgently needed updating.
However, since Ubuntu 11.04 is going to be released in a week, we are now planning to release 0.1.4 with specific bugfixes and improvements for Natty.
Changes planned
There has been some discussion whether Screenlets should use Application Indicators and the solution was to let users choose themselves. So, now Screenlets detects automatically if Application Indicators is available on your system (at least version 0.3.0 to work all right) and prefers the newer technology to the old tray menu.
Since there has been a lot of work in translating Screenlets to French, Polish and Spanish, but also to German, Romanian and Estonian, it would be good to make it all available for users of stable Screenlets PPA by default.
Othwerwise there will be no big changes that you can see with your eyes. Maybe only that, Lyrics screenlet has made its way to the Basic Pack.
Technically speaking, there is an options system rework by Martin Owens pending already for a long time. Hope it works fine and you don't notice any changes.
List of changes from changelog
- Add Application Indicators support
- Options rework to make code more intelligible
- Lyrics screenlet to Basic Pack
- Make possible to use logging module from Universal Applets
- Fix flicker and resize grips problems in Natty
- Some minor fixes and additions for individual screenlets
